Great Mix--Definitely a "Buy Again" September 5, 2010 mb My fiance and I are just starting to experiment with gluten free mixes. Of the products that we have tried, this was the first one that we said was a definite "buy again." The pancakes taste like real pancakes and are good enough to serve guests that can have gluten.
Makes very fluffy pancakes September 2, 2010 City Of Rocks I like a good, substantive pancake. These cook up very fluffy, a good three quarters of an inch, requiring only a few minutes of time. (The key is remembering to let the batter stand a few minutes).
Another thing I really liked about this mix is that even when I took leftover batter out of the fridge to cook it the next morning, the pancakes still cooked up to the same texture. With the last batter I used, I couldn't store any leftover batter in the fridge because when I used it the next day, the pancakes turned out flat and rubbery. Not so here-less waste.
The pancakes are a bit crumbly, which I didn't mind. These aren't wheat and of course didn't taste like it, either; the taste is a bit pungent and at first I didn't like it. It isn't a bad flavor; just not what I've been used to my whole life. But after I tried it a few times and took the flavor on it's own terms rather than comparing it to Aunt Jemima's, I got used to it, and was glad to have pancakes again.
The only thing I wish is that the measure of mix in the bag was consistent with the batch sizes so I didn't end up with half a batch's worth of mix in the bottom of the bag. I did figure out a way to use half an egg for the remaining half mix, but still. It would be more convenient to just have a full number of batches in the bag.
But I do like the pancakes this made.
Great Gluten Free pancake mix makes our favorite waffles August 16, 2010 hbwcoach We add ground flax, extra egg and shredded zuccini, and use olive oil for great waffles.
Very good mix August 13, 2010 ScottA Better than the mystery mix in the shaking jug, IMO. There is occasionally a slight taste of the potato starch, but not bad. Use more milk than it calls for, they'll be too thick and never get done otherwise.
